A recent study conducted by researchers at Chungnam National University in South Korea examined the effectiveness of self-training using a virtual reality head-mounted display simulator for acquiring surgical skills in holmium laser enucleation surgery. Thirteen medical students without prior surgical skills were trained using multimedia and a simulator. The results showed significantly improved scores and a high pass rate after the self-training, indicating that the simulator was helpful in acquiring surgical skills for this procedure.
