Abstract

Researchers at Lahore Garrison University have conducted a study on chalcones, a class of compounds known for their broad-spectrum biological activities, to evaluate their potential as antibacterial and antibiofilm agents. The synthesized chalcones showed promising results, with compounds 5a and 5d exhibiting potent antibacterial activity against multidrug-resistant bacteria. Additionally, these compounds demonstrated significant biofilm inhibition efficacy. Molecular docking studies further supported the potential of chalcones, particularly compound 5a, as promising candidates for the development of new antimicrobial agents targeting drug-resistant microbes and biofilm formation. This research provides valuable insights into the search for novel antimicrobial agents to combat drug resistance. [Extracted from the article]
