Abstract

The Thermopylae Club, based in Victoria, Canada, is an organization that celebrates the maritime history and traditions of the city. It was formed in 1932 and is named after the clipper ship Thermopylae. The club holds monthly meetings and an annual dinner where members share their maritime stories. They have a close relationship with the Maritime Museum of BC and have published two volumes of stories documenting maritime history. The club welcomes members from diverse backgrounds and organizes events and activities to foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie. They also contribute to the community through restoration projects and awards for maritime students. [Extracted from the article]
