Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands, explored the gene profiles of B cells in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The researchers found a distinctive B-cell activation gene signature in the blood and liver of patients with immune active chronic HBV, characterized by an upregulation of immune-related genes. This suggests that B-cell gene profiles may reflect responsiveness to HBV infection and could be relevant for clinical studies evaluating treatment strategies for HBV. The role of B cells in controlling chronic HBV infection is still not well established. [Extracted from the article]
