Abstract

A researcher from the Chinese University of Hong Kong has published a study on the development of a scoring system to predict the risk of liver cancer among diabetes patients. The study aimed to fill a gap in liver cancer scoring systems, which typically focus on patients with preexisting liver diseases. The researchers used electronic health records from Hong Kong to develop the scoring system, which included factors such as chronic hepatitis B/C, alanine aminotransferase, age, presence of cirrhosis, and sex as predictors. The proposed scoring system may provide a useful tool for predicting liver cancer risk among diabetes patients. [Extracted from the article]
