Abstract

Researchers from the University of Tokyo have conducted a study on pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), a disease characterized by the accumulation of mucinous ascites in the abdominal cavity. The study aimed to understand the genetic and epigenetic alterations associated with PMP. The researchers found that PMP tumors could be classified into two epigenotypes and identified genes associated with neuronal development and synaptic signaling that may be involved in the development of PMP. These findings contribute to the understanding of PMP's molecular mechanisms and may aid in the development of therapeutic strategies for this life-threatening disease. [Extracted from the article]
