The researchers synthesized and characterized two new compounds with potential application as topoisomerase II (TOP2) inhibitors, which are enzymes involved in altering DNA topology. The compounds showed a higher binding affinity towards TOP2 but lower antiproliferative activity compared to the reference inhibitor etoposide.
