Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center focused on Costello syndrome, a genetic disorder associated with an increased risk of melanoma. The study aimed to identify the dermoscopic features of melanocytic nevi in patients with Costello syndrome and cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome (CFC). The findings revealed that nevi in patients with Costello syndrome and CFC commonly displayed organized homogenous brown dermoscopic patterns. Additionally, the study found that the number of nevi may significantly increase over time in individuals with CFC. Further research is needed to determine the risk of melanoma in individuals with these syndromes. [Extracted from the article]
