Abstract
- According to an article in Successful Farming, there has been a significant decline in agricultural exports to China due to strong competition from Brazil. The article also mentions that there is opposition in farm country to foreign ownership of U.S. farmland, particularly targeting China. Mexico and Canada have surpassed China as the top customers for U.S. food and agricultural exports. The article predicts that the agricultural trade deficit will double to a record $32 billion, but is expected to decrease as the global economy recovers. Additionally, the article briefly mentions the discovery of the H5N1 avian flu virus in dairy cattle and the importance of employing strong biosecurity measures. [Extracted from the article]
