Abstract

Researchers at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia have conducted a study on the potential effect of Tubulysin A (TubA) on autophagy in a group of cancer cell lines. Autophagy, the process of self-degradation of cellular components, plays a role in cancer development and response to chemotherapy. The study found that TubA, a myxobacteria-derived peptide, demonstrated significant antiproliferative effects on various cancer cell lines at low concentrations. It induced autophagy and triggered an intrinsic apoptotic pathway, leading to cell death in the MCF-7 cancer cell line. This research provides insights into potential therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment. [Extracted from the article]
