Abstract
- A recent study conducted at New York University (NYU) Langone Health examined factors associated with symptomatic carotid artery stenosis (CAS) in patients undergoing interventions. The study found that patients with symptomatic CAS were more likely to have a history of remote prior symptoms and were less likely to receive adequate medical management, including anti-platelet therapy. Symptomatic patients not on anti-platelet agents were also found to have a larger area of cerebral infarction when presenting with stroke. These findings highlight the importance of appropriate medical management and adherence in all patients with CAS. [Extracted from the article]
