Abstract
- Researchers from Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Iran have conducted a study on the role of Rho-kinase (ROCK) in endothelin-1 (ET1)-induced transactivation of the TGF-beta receptor. They found that ROCK activates myosin light chain phosphatase (MLCP) and increases phosphorylation of Smad2C, leading to the stimulation of chondroitin 4-O-sulfotransferase 1 (C4ST1) expression. This research suggests that ROCK plays a role in ET1-mediated TGF-beta receptor activation and proteoglycan production, which may have implications for cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis. The study has been peer-reviewed and published in Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics. [Extracted from the article]
