Abstract

Talley's Vegetable Division, a vegetable processor in New Zealand, is doubling its production volume after experiencing difficulties during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The company's processing plant in Mid Canterbury is strategically located in a highly productive growing area, allowing them to access the necessary produce. Talley's plans to expand its plant to include new processing lines and increased storage facilities. The company faces challenges in sourcing labor due to low unemployment rates in the region, but they rely on a diverse workforce comprising individuals from over 25 nationalities. Climate change poses challenges to harvest planning, but it also presents opportunities for growing different crops. Despite these challenges, Talley's is committed to supplying food locally and internationally and solidifying its position as the food basket of Mid Canterbury. [Extracted from the article]
