Abstract

Researchers at Chungbuk National University in South Korea have proposed a method to improve the dispersibility and aerodynamic performance of inhalable microparticles used in dry-powder inhalers (DPIs). By incorporating L-leucine (LEU) into hot-melt extrusion (HME), the researchers were able to enhance the dispersibility of the microparticles while maintaining their high aerodynamic performance. The study found that higher ratios of LEU in the HME formulations resulted in improved aerodynamic performance and particle size. This research shows promise for the development of inhalable particles that can improve drug dispersion and delivery. [Extracted from the article]
