Abstract
- A recent study compared the clinical profiles and outcomes of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The study found that NAFLD and MASLD are similar, with individuals with MASLD being slightly older and having a slightly higher mortality risk due to cardiometabolic risk factors. The study concluded that the terms NAFLD and MASLD can be used interchangeably, but further consideration is needed for the small proportion of patients with NAFLD who do not meet MASLD criteria.
