Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers from the University of Kansas Health System compared the use of the high-power holmium:yttrium-aluminium-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser with MOSES technology to the thulium fibre laser (TFL) in mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) surgeries. The study found that the Ho:YAG laser was more efficient, utilizing less energy and time, resulting in higher ablation efficiency and shorter operating time. However, there was no significant difference in stone-free rate (SFR) between the two laser platforms. The study suggests that the Ho:YAG laser may be a preferable option for mini-PCNL surgeries due to its efficiency. [Extracted from the article]
