Abstract

A recent study conducted at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, has reported new findings on the treatment of sepsis caused by Gram-positive bacterial infections. The researchers designed poly (sulfobetaine methacrylate-co-diallyldimethylammonium)/red blood cell membrane (PSDR) hydrogel microspheres as hemoperfusion adsorbents to attract bacteria and adsorb toxins released by the bacteria. The PSDR microspheres demonstrated excellent and rapid adsorption of bacterial toxins, with a 75.6% removal efficiency in just 10 minutes. This research offers potential new solutions for the deep treatment of bacteria-induced sepsis. [Extracted from the article]
