Abstract

A recent study conducted by the China University of Petroleum (East China) has found that CO2 energetic fracturing is effective for ultralow-permeability sandstone reservoirs. The study examined the impacts of fractures and CO2 at the pore scale on oil recovery, mobilization sites, residual distribution, and oil mobility limits across different pore types. The results showed that CO2 reduces the lower limit of oil mobility and enhances oil recovery in micropores and fractures. The findings highlight the importance of this technique for effective development strategies in ultralow-permeability sandstone reservoirs. [Extracted from the article]
