Abstract
- A recent study conducted at North Sichuan Medical College in Sichuan, People's Republic of China, focused on the role of circular RNA (circRNA) in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the most common form of thyroid cancer. The researchers investigated the function and mechanism of circ-methyltransferase-like 15 (METTL15) in PTC cells. They found that circ-METTL15 and X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) were upregulated in PTC cells, while miR-200c-3p was downregulated. Inhibiting circMETTL15 or increasing miR-200c-3p levels resulted in decreased proliferation, migration, and invasion of PTC cells, as well as increased apoptosis. The study concluded that circ-METTL15 stimulates aggressive behavior in PTC cells by coopting miR-200c-3p/XIAP. [Extracted from the article]
