Abstract

A study conducted at King Abdullah University Hospital in Irbid, Jordan aimed to evaluate the association between the use of oral isotretinoin and menstrual irregularities in acne patients with previously regular menstrual cycles. The study found that 37.1% of the participants experienced changes in their menstrual cycles while undergoing isotretinoin therapy, with the majority returning to normal within two months post-treatment. The duration of treatment, total accumulative dose, and a family history of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) were identified as significant predictors of menstrual irregularities. This research provides valuable insights into the potential impact of oral isotretinoin on the menstrual cycle. [Extracted from the article]
