Abstract

In this article, the author recounts their experience of taking a DNA test and discovering surprising results about their ancestry. Initially expecting to find a predominantly Ashkenazi Jewish heritage, the author was shocked to learn that they were only 50 percent Jewish, with the other half consisting of various northern European countries. This led the author to question their paternity and explore their newfound connections with English and Irish relatives. Through contacting DNA matches and conducting further research, the author was able to uncover their biological grandfather's identity and establish strong bonds with newfound family members. The author reflects on their father's potential feelings about their discoveries and expresses gratitude for the connections made with their biological family. [Extracted from the article]
