Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea, has found that the hormone leptin, which is associated with obesity, plays a role in the progression of breast cancer. The study focused on the relationship between leptin and vasculogenic mimicry (VM), which is the formation of vascular channels lined by tumor cells. The researchers discovered that leptin promotes VM in breast cancer cells through the Ob-R/STAT3 pathway, and that aquaporin-1 (AQP1) is a key mediator in this process. These findings provide new insights into the mechanisms of breast cancer progression. [Extracted from the article]
