Abstract

A study conducted in Wuzhou, China compared the effects of holmium laser lithotripsy and pneumatic lithotripsy on patients with ureteral calculi. The study found that holmium laser lithotripsy had a higher success rate for primary lithotripsy compared to pneumatic lithotripsy. Additionally, the holmium laser lithotripsy group had shorter operation times, shorter hospital stays, and lower levels of inflammatory and oxidative stress markers compared to the pneumatic lithotripsy group. The study concluded that holmium laser lithotripsy is more effective in improving the lithotripsy effect, reducing complications, and shortening recovery time for patients with ureteral stones.
