Abstract
- This article discusses a study on the presence and diversity of prophages in Group B Streptococcus (GBS) isolates from humans in South America, specifically Argentina. Prophages are known to contribute to GBS evolution and pathogenicity. The study used whole genome sequence data and implemented two methods for prophage typing. The revised prophage typing approach classified all prophages into 19 types, which correlated with GBS clonal complex grouping. The study also proposed an improved and integrated prophage typing system for rapid phage detection and classification. [Extracted from the article]
