Abstract

Researchers from the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University have identified a potential cause of preeclampsia, a significant pregnancy disorder. Through their study, they found that overexpression of trophoblast glycoprotein (TPBG) contributes to the development of preeclampsia by affecting the migration and invasion of trophoblast cells in the uterine spiral artery. The researchers propose that TPBG levels in maternal blood could be used as a predictor of preeclampsia risk. This study provides new insights into the understanding and prevention of preeclampsia.
