Abstract

This article discusses the challenges faced by German paper recyclers in the global crisis, such as low prices for paper scrap and lack of investment. Despite these difficulties, Germany has a high paper recycling rate of over 99%. However, recyclers in Germany face obstacles and little government support, leading to resentment and a lack of attractiveness for investors. The article highlights the efforts of companies like Apple, Amazon, DS Smith, and Mondi in promoting paper recycling, as well as the need for collaboration and unity among recyclers and producers. It also mentions the high cost of fires at recycling plants and the importance of proper insurance coverage. The proposed Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation and smart sorting projects are discussed, along with the increasing demand for fiber-based solutions in packaging. [Extracted from the article]
