Abstract

The article explores the life and legacy of William Penn, the founder and governor of Pennsylvania. It highlights the numerous places and landmarks named after Penn in Pennsylvania, but notes that many people are unfamiliar with the details of his life. The article discusses four physical legacies of Penn that still exist today, including the William Penn Landing Site, Penn Treaty Park, the Pennypack Bridge, and Pennsbury Manor. It provides historical context on Penn's motivations for founding Pennsylvania and his relationship with the Quakers. The article concludes by discussing the reconstruction of Pennsbury Manor and its significance as a representation of the Colonial Revival movement. [Extracted from the article]
