Abstract

A recent study conducted at University Hospital in Alicante, Spain, examined the impact of Crohn's disease on fertility in both men and women. The study found that women with Crohn's disease had reduced ovarian reserve, while men with the disease experienced decreased Sertoli cell function. Sexual dysfunction was also more prevalent among both male and female Crohn's disease patients. The study concluded that age over 30 was the main predictor of reduced ovarian reserve in women with Crohn's disease. Further research is needed to provide accurate counseling for patients with Crohn's disease who desire to have children. [Extracted from the article]
