Abstract
- A study conducted by the Medical College of Rzeszow University in Poland examined the impact of different power settings of the holmium laser and the flow rate of irrigation fluid on the fluid temperature during lithotripsy. The researchers used a 3D-printed model of the renal pelvicalyceal system and measured the temperature using thermography. They found that the rate of temperature increase during lithotripsy depended solely on laser power in the short term, but both laser power and irrigation flow rate influenced the maximum temperature reached during prolonged lithotripsy. This research provides valuable insights into the factors that affect intrapelvic temperature during holmium laser lithotripsy. [Extracted from the article]
