Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, China, has explored the potential of using Saccharomyces cerevisiae (SC) for oral immunization against the African swine fever virus (ASFV). ASFV is a highly complex virus that poses a significant threat to the global swine industry. Currently, there are no commercial vaccines available for ASFV, except in Vietnam. The study found that the recombinant SC strains containing multiple ASFV antigens induced strong immune responses in mice, suggesting that this oral immunization strategy could be a promising approach for developing a vaccine against ASFV. Further research is needed to evaluate its efficacy in swine. [Extracted from the article]
