Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Federal University Sao Paulo in Brazil explored the potential use of gold nanoparticles in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The researchers found that gold nanoparticles capped with aminolevulinic acid (ALA), methyl aminolevulinate (MALA), and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) showed promise in low-energy X-ray diagnostics and therapy for breast cancer. These nanoparticles were able to reduce cell viability and enhance contrast, making them a potential material for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. The study was funded by the National Institute of Science and Technology Complex Fluids (INCT-FCX) and the Fundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Sao Paulo (FAPESP). [Extracted from the article]
