Abstract
- A recent study published in the Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology highlights the design of colon-specific nanoparticles for the delivery of sulfasalazine, a first-line treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome. Conventional formulations have poor targeting properties for the colon, so the study aimed to formulate and evaluate polymeric nanoparticles loaded with sulfasalazine to improve therapeutic outcomes. The nanoparticles were prepared using a pH-dependent polymer and evaluated for various properties. The optimized formulation showed satisfactory release and may be suitable for colon targeting of sulfasalazine with improved therapeutic effects. [Extracted from the article]
