Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Fudan University in Shanghai, China, has explored the interaction between lipid-based nanocarriers and plasma proteins in drug delivery. The researchers fabricated discoid-shaped lipid nanodiscs composed of different phospholipids and investigated their stability, biodistribution, and interaction with serum proteins. The results showed that the composition of phospholipids influenced the stability of the nanodiscs in blood serum, with the nanodiscs composed of POPG exhibiting the least stability. However, the phospholipid composition did not affect the nanodiscs' ability to evade accelerated blood clearance. The study also found that the nanodiscs composed of POPC displayed a higher deposition of apolipoprotein E, suggesting their potential for brain-targeted drug delivery. [Extracted from the article]
