Abstract

A researcher from the University Medical Center Ljubljana in Slovenia has released new data on heart attacks. The study focused on comatose survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and target temperature management (TTM). The researchers hypothesized that using the drug cangrelor would provide immediate platelet inhibition and bridge the "P2Y12 inhibition gap." The pilot study involved 30 patients and found that cangrelor safely induced immediate and profound platelet inhibition without significant drug-drug interactions. The study provides valuable insights into potential strategies for preventing stent thrombosis in OHCA patients undergoing PCI and TTM. [Extracted from the article]
