Abstract
- A pilot study conducted by researchers at the University of Delhi explored the association between ACE I/D polymorphism and cognitive impairment (CI) and depression among North Indian adults. The study found that certain sociodemographic variables, such as gender, educational status, and employment status, were significantly different between individuals with and without CI. However, no statistically significant association was found between ACE I/D genotypes or alleles and cognitive impairment. On the other hand, the study did find a reduced risk of depression among North Indian adults with the D allele of ACE I/D gene polymorphism. The researchers concluded that further research is needed to better understand the complex relationship between sociodemographic and genetic factors and cognitive impairment and depression.
