Abstract
- Researchers in Vancouver, Canada have developed a new imaging technique for detecting cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), which play a critical role in tumor growth and metastasis. The researchers synthesized two novel compounds, SB03178 and SB04033, which were chelated to diagnostic or therapeutic radionuclides. PET imaging and biodistribution analyses in mice showed that SB03178 had higher tumor uptake and better tumor-to-background contrast ratios compared to SB04033. The researchers concluded that these preliminary findings support the clinical development of SB03178 for imaging and therapy in FAP-overexpressing neoplasms, particularly carcinomas.
