Abstract
- Researchers at IPB University in Indonesia conducted a study to investigate the potential transmission of the foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus through raw salted cowhide imported from Malaysia. The study collected 21 samples from bulk containers of raw salted cowhide imported through Tanjung Priok Port. Using real-time q Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR), the researchers found that the salted raw cowhide was free from the FMD virus. The study suggests the need for continuous monitoring and surveillance protocols for salted rawhide imported from non-free countries at other points of entry. [Extracted from the article]
