Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, explored the association between hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels and renal arteriolar sclerosis in individuals without kidney dysfunction. The study analyzed a cohort of 393 living kidney donors and found that elevated HbA1c levels were significantly correlated with wall thickening in the renal arterioles. The researchers concluded that subclinical renal arteriolar sclerosis may develop in individuals with prediabetic HbA1c levels. This study provides valuable insights into the potential risks associated with high-normal HbA1c levels. [Extracted from the article]
