Abstract
- Researchers from Chaudhary Charan Singh University in India have developed a paper-based analytical device for the early detection of ovarian cancer. The device uses silver nanoparticles coated on paper to detect lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), a biomarker for ovarian cancer, through surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The study found that patients with ovarian cancer had higher levels of LPA compared to those with benign ovarian tumors or healthy individuals. The researchers believe that this point-of-care device could be a simple, effective, and cost-effective tool for early diagnosis of ovarian cancer. [Extracted from the article]
