Abstract

The article discusses two redevelopment projects that aim to convert closed auto assembly sites into new multiuse communities. One project, Highland Bridge in St. Paul, Minnesota, is being developed by Ryan Companies on the site of Ford Motor Co.'s former Twin Cities Assembly Plant. The project includes housing, retail, office, and medical spaces, as well as public green spaces and sustainability features. The other project, Assembly Atlanta, plans to combine a studio complex and a live-work-play community on the site of a former General Motors plant. These projects aim to generate new employment opportunities and address community concerns while preserving the legacy of these former economic engines. [Extracted from the article]
