Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from Tongji University in Shanghai, China, explores the impact of chief executive officers' (CEOs) international experience in advanced market economies on their firms' investment horizons in a transitioning economy. The study suggests that CEOs with international experience possess the knowledge necessary to manage current tasks, allowing them to allocate cognitive resources towards longer-term investment considerations. The research findings indicate that the effect of CEO international experience on firm investment horizon is stronger under conditions that increase the cognitive burden on CEOs, such as high levels of pro-market reform, foreign competition, analyst coverage, and institutional ownership. The study contributes to the understanding of firm investment horizon, CEO international experience, and transition economies. [Extracted from the article]
