Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Hamamatsu University School of Medicine in Japan has found a link between chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and membranous nephropathy (MN). The study focused on a 50-year-old man with CIDP who was found to have MN upon kidney biopsy. The researchers discovered the presence of anti-contactin 1 (CNTN1) antibodies in the patient's serum, indicating an association between CIDP and MN. The study suggests that a variety of autoantibodies may be produced in CIDP cases associated with CNTN1 antibodies and MN. [Extracted from the article]
