Abstract

This article examines the impact of climate change on the mixing processes in Babitonga Bay, Brazil. The study uses a hydrodynamic model to simulate the bay's hydrodynamics and assess water renewal rates and water age. The results indicate that sea level rise is reducing water renewal capacity and increasing water age, particularly in certain critical regions of the bay. The study suggests that further research and projects should focus on these areas, and proposes reopening the Linguado channel as a potential solution to improve water renewal rates.
