Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) focused on understanding the evolutionary forces involved in the diversification of lineages, particularly in conifers. The study examined patterns of polymorphism, purifying selection efficiency, and molecular evolution in a lineage of hard pines from North America, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. The researchers found differences among clades, indicating a relaxation of purifying selection and possible positive selection in pines from Mexico and Central America. The study suggests that stochastic processes and positive selection have played a key role in the diversification of this group. [Extracted from the article]
