Abstract

A study conducted by CHA University in South Korea has provided new data on nanodiscs and their implications for downstream signaling. The research focused on the membrane-driven dimerization of the peripheral membrane protein KRAS, which plays a role in cell proliferation and oncogenesis. The study used lipid-bilayer nanodisc platforms and paramagnetic relaxation enhancement (PRE) analyses to reveal the structures of membrane-bound KRAS homodimers. The findings suggest that nanodisc platforms can be used to screen potential anticancer drugs that target membrane-bound RAS dimers and investigate their structural mechanism of action.
