Abstract

This document presents the results of a study on the effect of different mulch materials on the growth and yield of cucumber plants. The study found that black polythene mulch resulted in the highest specific leaf weight, net assimilation rate, and relative growth rate of the plants. It also led to the shortest time to first flowering, highest number of fruits per plant, and highest fruit yield per plant, bed, and hectare. The use of mulch materials was found to improve soil temperature, water absorption, and nutrient uptake, resulting in increased plant growth and yield. [Extracted from the article]
