Abstract
- The article explores the use of hypothermia as a non-chemical method to control varroa mites in bee colonies. The study conducted an experiment on six bee colonies and found that hypothermia had a significant impact on varroa infestation. It was observed that hypothermia primarily affected the developing descendants of the mites, while adult mites and their non-moving stages were resistant. This suggests that hypothermia could be an effective way to reduce varroa infestation in bee colonies. The article also emphasizes the importance of implementing varroa control methods in the springtime to maintain the productivity of bee colonies. [Extracted from the article]
