Abstract

Researchers at Colegio de Postgraduados in Texcoco, Mexico have conducted a study on the effects of selenium on gene expression in in vitro follicles of ewes. The study found that selenium activated gene expression in the follicles, some of which were related to the immune system. The researchers identified 2,538 differentially expressed genes, with 94 genes involved in immune processes. The study suggests a possible immune pathway related to follicular apoptosis regulation. The research was supported by Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia (CONACyT) and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
