Abstract

A recent study conducted at Akita University in Japan explored the relationship between arthroscopic findings and the pathology of greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS). The researchers found that greater trochanteric bursitis and fascia or muscle-fiber injury of the gluteus medius muscle were the most common pathologies in patients with lateral hip pain. Surgical treatment, specifically debridement of the greater trochanter bursa, provided rapid relief of pain and significant improvement in patients' quality of life. This research provides valuable insights into the understanding and treatment of GTPS. [Extracted from the article]
