Abstract

This article presents the author's comments on Californian wine. The rise of Californian wine is not just down to its affordable price but because of the good quality of wine being made. It is, after all, just one of 50 U.S. states. And North America is hardly famous for its wine production. Production is dominated by red wines for which the state's Mediterranean climate is ideal. Hills and sea breezes provide the cool air that complements the lengthy sunshine. It seems a perfect environment for wine-making.
